Welcome, Little One

My Mom asked me to make her a baby girl card to send to a friend of hers that just became a Grandmother. I have been so into the fall colors it was a little hard to get back into the pastels. I kept reaching for pick and brown when I first started.

So I went through my stash and found this cute Lockhart stamp which I had not inked up yet. Then I dug some more and found my pad of Garden Party paper and got to work.

My image and sentiment are both inked with Stazon Jet Black ink and colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I used my Petite Oval Nestabilities Dies for the first time to cut out the layers and they are up in foam tape for extra dimension. The paper is Garden Party from Making Memories and the ribbon is from Joann's.

I am still on the autumn theme tonight. It must be the cooler breeze we enjoyed today. I really like this time of year. I can enjoy some of my favorite treats like a nice Chi Tea Latte and a slice of pumpkin spice bread. Yummy!

This is going to be a thank you card for someone who shared some lovely papers with me recently. I used three different sets from Saltbox Studio to make this one. That is one of the great things about Saltbox stamps they mix and match so well!

First I stamped the berry branch from Deck the Halls in Palette Burnt Umber ink. Next I stamp the harvest basket from Basket Celebration in Versafine Black Onyx as well as the sentiment, which is from Deck the House Companion. I colored my images with Koh-I-Noor colored pencils and Gamsol. The edges of the basket layer have been inked with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and the light orange Bazzill was edge distressed. I added a couple of buttons from my stash with some hemp and ribbon to finish it off.

Autumn Wedding

Tomorrow at work there is a bridal shower for one of our First Grade teachers who has planned an October wedding. Now even though in Florida that can still be a beach wedding I decided to go with a fall theme for my card. I just love the colors of autumn.

For this card I used two of my very favorite Saltbox Studio sets Tweets and Tweet Houses. I stamped the Church with Versafine Black Onyx and then made a mask. Next I stamped the branch with Palette Burnt Umber ink on top of my masked Church. I colored my image with Koh-I-Noor colored pencils and Gamsol. The ran my layer of white Bazzill through the Swirls Embossing folder and lightly rubbed Yellow Citrus Colorbok ink over top. The rectangle layers were cut out with Nestabilities dies and lightly distressed. The ribbon is from American Crafts, which I found at Target.

Autumn Greetings

Fall is here, sort of....as fall as we get in Florida anyway. I wish we had more of a change in seasons but I can't complain with year round beach weather now can I! To celebrate the beginning of fall I made a card using one of my favorite Saltbox Studio stamps. This wreath just reminds me of my parents home.

I stamped the wreath on kraft cardstock with Burnt Umber Palette Ink and colored it with Koh-I-Noor colored pencils and Gamsol. The orange Vintage paper and sheer french roast ribbon are both by A Muse. The square layers were cut out with my Nestabilities dies and are up on foam tape for extra dimension.

This card will be going out to a friend with a little gift as soon as I can get to the post office. Seems I am always running somewhere these day.

Proud Moments!

I just got home from Toby's Open House tonight and it was a pretty special night full of "Proud Moments"! The first one of the night was the one he has been waiting for all summer long. You see about two weeks into the summer vacation we got Toby's FCAT (Our state standardized test) scores and not only did he pass but he gained over 100 points in each subject! This meant he had won a brand new laptop!!! Which he was able to pick up tonight. Out of about 300 students only 20 earned the laptops this year! I am so very proud of him!!!

And here he is enjoying his reward tonight. Sorry the photo is so bright, I had to use the flash in his room.

The next "Proud Moment" was while we were visiting his classes, his Culinary Teachers told me they had selected Toby for competition this year!!! This is a really BIG honor for students in their third year of Culinary and if he wins he travels to the next competition! This is almost as big as the Food Network Challenges! Now he needs to decide if he was to compete in cooking or baking. I think he may be leaning more towards baking.

I have been doing some crafty things ~ some I can't share just yet but you are going to *love* them soon! I do have some others I'll be posting this week but it just seems like I am always going, going, going these days. I hope to slow down now that all the kids Open Houses are done.

Party Favors

Jessica and her friends are all very into reading. Right now they are all reading the Twilight series for about the twelfth time. They even have they own book club. Before the beach we stopped out for pizza and all they did was talk about the Twilight books. Well now they are even moving on to writing their own short stories together so I thought making them their own personalized journals would be the perfect party favors.

I found these great fabric covered journals at Target for only $2.49 but I could only get three black for her friends Jessica's journal is purple. Jessica picked out her favorite Doodle Factory monster Num Num for the front. I did them all the same and added each of the girls initial with a K & Co. silver glitter letter. I stamped the image with Stazon Jet Black ink and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. The layers were cut out with my rectangle Nestabilities Dies. The black ribbon is from PaperMart and the purple ribbon is from Offray.

Here is Jessica's purple journal. Along with these we also gave each of the girls a smencil. Now I am sure you are asking what a "smencil" is. Well it is a scented pencil made from recycled newspapers my school is selling for a fund raiser. What could be more fun then writing in a new journal with a fruity scented pencil! The girls loved them and started writing in them right away! Jessica is just like me and couldn't wait until the end of the party to give them out.

Fun In The Sun

This afternoon I took Jessica and her friends to the beach for some birthday fun in the sun. We have had such terrible weather the past few weeks that it was nice to see the sun again. I think the girls turned into fish for a few hours, they hardly got out of the water. 

These are Jessica's three BEST friends. (Jessica is in the white tank top.) They do everything together, and they are with each other every weekend. I am so glad she has such good friends! I had fun with them all today and they even told me I was a COOL Mom! LOL I think she had a fun birthday! Not much sleep but a lot of fun!!!

While we were having fun at the beach Leon was having his own fun in the sun. He was out fishing today and caught a bunch of tuna. I know what Leon and Toby are having for dinner this week!

Stop back tomorrow...I have the goodie bag gifts Jessica gave her friends to thank them for coming to her party to post. I made them each journals! They were a BIG hit!

It's a Slumber Party

Sorry for the lack of posts again this week, it was another busy one and I was still not feeling 100%. This cold really took a lot out of me but hopefully now I can get back to normal...whatever that might be.

This is Jessica's invitation to her slumber party tomorrow. We held off on her party a week because of my cold and all the hurricanes that were heading our way last weekend. But the weather this weekend is supposed to be perfect! I thought Jammiebella from Stamping Bella would make a perfect slumber party invitation! And of course I used more of Jessica's favorite color ~ Purple!

I stamped the image with Stazon Jet black ink and its colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I wanted to add some fun flock to her slippers but can you believe I don't have purple! That will be on my next order. I embossed my card base with the Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder. And the rectangle layers are cut out with the Mega Nestabilities Dies. Then for a special touch a added Card Scents lavender to each card and sealed them in clear envelopes.

Jessica said her friends and teachers just loved the invitations and the girls were so surprised when they opened them up and the cards smelled like lavender!

I better plan on getting a good night sleep tonight because tomorrow I am sure the house will be filled with giggles.

My Baby Is 13 Today!

I officially have a house full of teenagers now, my youngest has crossed that bridge to a TEEN! I have to admit I am feeling a little blue this weekend by her big birthday, which took me a little by surprise. I think it's just been a year of BIG changes, my oldest starting college, Samantha turns 18 in two weeks, Toby turned 16 last month, and now Jessica turning 13. That is a lot to take in one year! No wonder I have so many grays. *wink*

 

I made Jessica's special card using iPodabella since as a "teen" she always seems to have her iPod in hand. I also used her favorite color PURPLE. My image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I added Star Dust Stickles to the fur on Bella's Jacket and Yellow Stickles to the center of the flowers on the patter paper for some bling. The paper is some very old stuff I found in my stash. I used my JustRite Stamper to make a special personalized sentiment just for Jess, which is inked with a Colorbox Queue to match. Then I used my Circle Nestabilities Dies to cut out the layers which are up on foam tape for extra dimension. The ribbon is by Offray.

Tracy's Sketch Challenge Thursday

I have seen Tracy's sketch challenges for the past few weeks but I just couldn't find the time to play along. Well tonight since I was feeling a little better I made time to play. I am so far behind on cards I need to get out because of my cold last week, I thought this quick sketch would be the perfect tool to help me out. First here is Tracy's sketch.

Now here is a thank you card I should have gotten out last week...shame on me!

I pretty much left the sketch as is because I think my mojo is still on cold meds or following Hurricane Ike, which is turning out to be a monster of a storm heading our way.

I started with an A Muse Blueberry Kitchen notecard for the card base. I used a strip of white cardstock for the thank you sentiment and added the red Bazzill, which I scalloped with the Mega Nestabilities Die. I used my oval Nestabilities Dies to cut out the layers for my image. The Wild Bouquet is stamped in Stazon Jet Black ink and colored with Koh-I-Noor colored pencils and Gamsol. I added some yellow Stickles in the center of the red flowers for a little sparkle.
