Bad To The Bone

One of the best things about this hobby is being able to make a card for ANY occasion. My little sister called me up this afternoon and wanted a very special thank you card ~ one you just can't walk into Hallmark and buy.

You see my sister Stephanie will be graduating from Radiology school this December and Wednesday is her last day working at the out patient hospital and she wanted a special card to thank them for all the help they have given her. Well this is what I came up with tonight, just something quick since she needs to pick it up tomorrow and I have to work all day.

I found the image online doing a Google search and printed it out onto a transparency sheet so it looks like a real X-Ray. I backed it with white cardstock so it would show up against the brown. I finally used my Martha lace doily punch just to add a little frill and the ribbon is from Michael's. The Thank you stamp is A Muse and stamped in Stazon Jet black ink.

Twilight Treats

Well to say to girls enjoyed Twilight would be the under statement of the year! Jessica and I went with her BFF and her Mom Friday night, which was opening night. Talk about a packed house, full of excited young teens. They all cheered when Edward first appeared on screen and then again when Edward and Bella shared their first kiss. It really was fun! Jessica went all dreamy when Jacob first appeared on screen ~ He is her favorite! So what is a Mom to do, I took her again today!

But I know you came by to see crafty stuff so here are the Twilight treats I made for the girls. No movie is complete without chocolate!

I made Twilight Hershey bars for us to bring to the movie. The girls thought they were pretty cool! The brocade pattern paper is by Mambly and has a shimmer to it. I found the Twilight font online and printed that out and cut the layers out with Nestabilities Dies. The apple stamp is a Dollar Tree find, perfect for this project. It is stamped with A Muse dye ink and colored with Original Copics.

Jessica is already saying she can't wait for the DVD!

Twilight Release

Well today is the day my daughter Jessica has been counting down for months ~ the release of the Twilight movie. She is all set for her Twilight weekend. I am sure we'll be seeing this movie more then once. LOL So in honor of this BIG day I made her card that I left in her room this morning.

This adorable little werewolf stamp is from Unity stamps, they also make the sentiment but mine did not arrive in time. I had a DUH moment when I placed my order and did not order them at the same time. So to make this card I had to cheat and print this one out on the computer. 

I stamped my image with A Muse Dye ink and colored it with Original Copics. That ink works amazing with Copic markers! My pattern paper is by A 2 Z Essentials and I used the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Punch along the bottom edge. You know for that Vampire look. The ribbon is from my stash and my card base is Bazzill.

I have some more Twilight treats to share with Jessica and her friends this weekend, which I'll post later on. I am having the best time seeing them all so excited.

Holiday Spark and Some Changes

I've made some changes to my blog this week. I thought I needed a more grown up look now that I have this great professional looking headshot thanks to Heather! I normally try to stay behind the camera but while we were in Seattle for IT Training everyone got professional photos taken. Poor Heather was behind her camera all day Saturday and then she took a group shot of all 35 of us!

Speaking of Heather ~ each Friday she has her Share Your Spark challenge and last week it was to make Holiday Tags. I really wanted to play along! Each year I say I am going to make all my own tags and before I know it I have run out of time and I am printing out labels on the computer.

Well I made one! LOL I used the new Christmas tree with lights from the Saltbox Studio Classic Christmas set. This is such a fun set I already have an idea for another tag using the "Ho Ho Ho" stamp from this set too. I may get my tags done this year after all!

The image was stamped with A Muse Dye Ink and colored with Original Copics and Clear and Yellow Spica Glitter pens. I used a scrap of Vintage Red 8.5 x 11 paper and an Irish Green notecard for my layers, which were cute out with the Mega Rectangle Nestabilities.

Thanks for Dinner

During the holiday season it is always nice to go to friends and family with a little gift of thanks. Saltbox Studio stamps are wonderful for making hostess gifts! This is actually an Archer Farms Bamboo Rice bottle that I have recycled into a candy jar for my Dad. He just loves black licorice! 

I wrapped a piece of A Muse Vintage Brown 8.5 x 11 paper around the bottle and then added my sentiment layers. The leaf Bunch from the Give Thanks set was stamped in A Muse Dye Ink and colored with Copic Original Markers. Yes I finally broke down and bought some. LOL I still need lots of practice with them but I am having fun playing.

Gavin's First Thanksgiving

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week already! I am really looking forward to that time off from work to spend with family. This is a super fast card I made for my nephew Gavin's first Thanksgiving using the Saltbox Studio Kid's Table set. I thought these images would be perfect for him. If you have some last minute cards to get done there is still time to order the Saltbox Studio sets from A Muse with their super fast shipping!

I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. All papers are A Muse as is the ribbon I used on my buttons. This card is not as rustic as most of my Saltbox cards are since this one is for Gavin I wanted to go with a younger cute look. This card also fits Glenda's challenge this week to pick one color and use it only once on a card. My card base is an Orange Crush note card and I only used that color once.

Harvest Time

What a busy week! It was nice to sit down and finally ink up some of my Saltbox Studio images on Sunday. They have been feeling a little neglected. Last week Lexi gave the Saltbox Team a challenge to make some Thanksgiving cards for this week, so here is one I did yesterday.

All images are from the Give Thanks set and have been stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. The leaf bunch was stamped with Versamark.

I used a 4 Bar Grass Kitchen Note Card for the pattern paper and Palm Sheer Ribbon to finish off the card both from A Muse. I'll link the up to the rest of the team when I get home from work if they got a chance to work on this Team Challenge this weekend.

In some other news I got to spend some quality time with my nephew Gavin Saturday night while I baby sat so his Mommy and Daddy could go to a wedding. He was just perfect but boy did he fight going to sleep. I guess he knew Mommy was out. I didn't mind one bit, it just gave me more time with him. I just can't stop kissing those cheeks!

Sights of Seattle

As promised here are some photos I took around Seattle Sunday before my redeye flight home. I was glad I got to see a little of the city and down town before I left.

We went down to the Public Market Center for lunch and I could have spent a whole day here just looking at all the different vendors. What a colorful place!

Here was a great produce stand and this colorful young man was handing out a taste of Washington's sweetest red apples. Yummy! Just look at all those different colored peppers hanging!

How about some fun and crazy balloon animals.

Pike Place Fish Market ~ As customers would place their order these guys would ALL shout it out in unison and toss the fish or crab from the front to behind the counter to be weighed and wrapped then back again and handed to the customer. So much fun to watch!

Gorgeous dried flowers and only $4.00 a bunch!!!

The original Starbucks! This is where it all began. LOL You could not even get inside this shop it was so packed with people. But I did have several Chai Tea Lattes while I was in Seattle.

And last but not least The Space Needle!

I would really like to go back to Seattle with Leon one day I know he would just love the Market Place and I would love to go back and spend more time there. Not to mention visit the A Muse shop again!

What A Blast!

I got home from Seattle this morning and all I keep telling everyone is...What an AMAZING weekend we had! Meeting everyone for the first time was just wonderful. The A Muse Creative Team is not only a talented group of ladies but each one was just so warm and friendly. I know a lot of new friendships were made this weekend.

I have a few photos from our time together to share and tomorrow I have some photos of the sights around Seattle to show as well.

This is the new A Muse shop ~ isn't just adorable!!! This was Friday night during the Cupcake Social where we all got to meet some local A Muse Fans, do some make n' takes, and of course eat cupcakes! YUM!

These were some of the delicious cupcakes that Cindy from the A Muse Crew made for everyone. Can I just tell you that these had to be the BEST cupcakes I have had in a long time! She also made chocolate but vanilla are my favorite. *wink*

This is a view of inside the shop during the Cupcake Social. We were here shopping, in the back talking, and upstairs working on the make n' take. It was a full house!

This is about half of the 35 members of the Creative Team that traveled to Seattle for the IT Training weekend waiting to be seated at Buca di Beppo. We ALL went out to dinner Saturday night after our workshops. It was a great time, with great new friends, and great food!

Here I am with the one and only FABULOUS JulieHRR! She is just as cute and bubbly in real life! I have to say I was a little star struck meeting all the "Muses" for the first time. I have admired their work for so long and to be there in the same room with them was very intimidating and amazing all at the same time. 

This is Elena, she is on the Saltbox Design Team with me and it was so great meeting her in person. I just love her work with the Saltbox images and she is just the sweetest person you could ever meet.

And last but not least the very generous lady who made this whole weekend possible along with her amazing crew. This is Linda the Wonder Woman behind A Muse! It was such a pleasure to see her again and to spend this weekend getting to know her and her wonderful family a little better. Thank you so much Linda for giving me this chance to be a part of the A Muse Creative Team and for this wonderful weekend in Seattle! It is something I will never forget!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow is the big day! My flight to Seattle leaves at 6:27am and I still have tons to do tonight but I wanted to leave you with one last post and it just so happens to fit in with the A Muse Addicts challenge this week.

I used the Leafy Tree and Thank You Mix for this card for this card. The tree I stamped in Palette Burnt Umber ink and Thank you in Stazon Jet Black ink. The edges are inked with Rangers Distress Frayed Burlap. I colored the leaves in with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The notecard is a 4 bar brown Madeira by A Muse and the ribbon is French Roast stitched grosgrain.

Well It's already after 9pm so I better get off this computer and get to packing or I'll never be ready to leave. I know I am just going to be too excited to sleep tonight. But I have a long flight from Florida to Seattle so hopefully I can sleep on the plane. I'll take plenty of photos and post when I get home on Monday!
